Interviewing Tips – Tip #7

The interview is now in progress!

Sit straight, don’t lean on the desk, keep your hands on your lap and don’t move too much. Pay attention to the questions you’re being asked and think before you give an answer.

Keep close attention to your body language as well. Body language has to be send the same message as your words, as poor body language could be a distraction for the interviewer and a reason not to hire you. Negative forms of body language include: not keeping eye contact, look somewhere else other than to the interviewer, touching or brushing hair, playing with an object or chewing gum.

If you don’t know the answer to as question, always pause and think. Don’t make up something you are not sure about, and if you don’t know the answer, then simply say you don’t know or you don’t have the experience with that specific topic.
